Following a career in both education and commerce, for the past three years I have been working in a voluntary capacity with children with special needs at Oak Grove College in Durrington. As a visiting artist at the college I help run an on-going sculpture programme as part of the outdoor curriculum.
At Oak Grove I work mainly with years 10 and 11, and also introduce and liase with other visiting artists, whilst helping to organise an outreach programme that places sculptures made by the children into the local community. Recently we have made contributions to both Arundel and Worthing Festivals and have placed work at Goring Hall Hospital and Queen Alexandra Hospital Home in Worthing.
In July 2007 I was part of a team that produced and placed several works by Oak Grove children in the Growing Schools Gold Medal Garden at the Hampton Court Flower Show.
For the past three years I have also helped co-ordinate the Art Around Town community visual arts scheme (part of SWAG) that places the work of local artists in Worthing.
As a practitioner, I currently work with a variety of media including oils, acrylics and different printing techniques and regularly exhibit as part of the annual Arundel Gallery Trail.
